Alba Botanica Hawaiian Leave-In Conditioning Mist

Truth be told, I really don't pay much attention to my crown and glory. For years, I like to keep my hair short. I admire the rest of the women out there who takes good care of their hair with TLC. Guess I was a little bit of a tomboy back then. I also had one of those hair frightening experiences that damaged my locks like crazy from harmful chemicals! After that dreadful day, I stay away from THEM! Leave my hair alone!

But these last few months, it hit me; I took a long look on my hair and actually loved that black and wavy shoulder length hair I have. I'm thinking of letting it grow a bit longer either. I love how to frames my face and just flows with the wind. It may not be 'perfect', but I just love the way it is. I'm glad I picked this leave-in conditioning mist about a year ago and got to used to it for a few months now. I just had this feeling and I knew I needed it because my hair wants it!

HAWAIIAN LEAVE-IN CONDITIONING MIST 237ml [$6.99]
drink it up coconut milk
To quench dull, thirsty, tangled tresses, spritz on some light, refreshing island hydration. Protein-rich coconut milk and argan oil plus our unique plant-sourced keratin create a protective barrier that weightlessly protects--even during heat styling. For a pick-me-up anytime, this lightweight mist brings locks back to life and smoothes out curls. Hair revels in soft island beauty.

Directions:
Mist over damp hair to nourish, detangle and protect during styling. Mist over dry hair to reactivate styling products and tame unruly curls.

pH balanced.
100% Vegetarian Ingredients.

No:  Animal Testing, Artificial Colors, Heavy Silicones, Synthetic Fragrances, Parabens, Phthalates, Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate or Sodium Myreth Sulfate.

I love to spray this after I took a bath. I'm not much into coconut milk scented products, but every time I spray this on my hair, I smell c-h-o-c-o-l-a-t-e instead. My olfactory nerves has its own mind of some sort! Anyhow, it smells heavenly! It takes my breath away. I like products that are quick and simple to use; with just a few sprits on my hair, it makes my hair hydrated throughout the day. Because it is lightweight, it makes my hair soft and bouncy. The product doesn't help fight split ends, tangling, or flyaway, but does lock moisture. It has no harmful chemicals too, so you know you're getting the good stuff for your hair.

Earth Science Clarifying Facial Wash

Picked this on a whim because it was on sale at Whole Foods and was curious about this facial foaming cleanser suited for people who have oily/combination skin. I've never heard about this brand before either. I am into organic skin care products so I thought might as well give this a go.

Earth Science Clarifying Facial Wash 237ml [$7.49]
This mild foaming cleanser gently removes oil and other residues while oil-free moisturizers keep skin soft, never dry. Aloe vera and extracts of cucumber, sea kelp, birch bark and lavender refresh the skin. pH 5.0 / Vegan & Gluten-free
Ingredients: Aqueous Infusion of Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Panthenol, Peg-150 Distearate, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Rosemarinus Officinalus (Rosemary)Leaf Extract, Ascorbic Acid, Betula Alba (Birch) Bark Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract, Macrocystis Pyrifera (Kelp) Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Zinc Sulfate, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance (Parfum).

I was excited to try this because it did say it is a 'foaming cleanser'. I washed my hands first before cleansing my face as usual, and pumped a bit of the product on my hand with its handy pump. It is paraben-free, vegan, gluten-free, has no animal ingredients (not tested to animals), and with a pH 5.0 with all the good stuff you can learn about this product. Its light cucumber smell is making me nauseous though. Its texture has a gel-like consistency and rich which really is perfect for people with oily/combination skin.

As soon as it touches my skin, this gel-like facial cleanser is soothing and gentle, but it doesn't produce the foam like I wanted even when I added a little water. After I washed my face, I don't think it made my skin better or anything. It has nearly been a month, and I still don't see any improvement. My skin is not happy at all. Not that this causes me breakouts, flakiness or redness, but I just don't like it. It made my skin a little dry and nothing else.

I use my foaming net using this cleanser and it worked so good! Just a pump would create me this lather to wash my face with. I don't know what will I do with this facial cleanser without my foaming net. I am trying to finish this bottle as soon as I can because it makes me feel bad throwing it away. Or perhaps it is time to hand it to someone else and move on?

I love the good bits of this product! It cleansed my face, but I have seen no progress at all.

Not repurchasing.

Spectrum Essentials Chia Seed [$7.19]
Grown in Mexico, Chia Seed was a diet staple of the Aztecs and Mayans. The Chia Seed's nutrients provided sustained energy during long hunts and had numerous medicinal benefits. Revered by the people, Chia Seed was often used in religious ceremonies which led to its ban by the Spanish during their conquest of the region.

Today we know that Chia seed is a nutritional powerhouse with a lengthy list of health benefits. It is a valuable source of Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA), an Omega-3 essential fatty acid that help support normal cardiovascular function and fiber which helps support normal functioning of the digestive tract and can have a positive effect on cholesterol. Chia seeds are easily digestible and do not need to be ground. With its versatility and mild, nutty flavor, chia seed is a healthful addition to any diet.

Spectrum Essentials Organic Ground Flaxseed with Mixed Berries [$5.99]
Spectrum Essentials Organic Ground Flaxseed with Mixed Berries combines the best-selling Organic Ground Flaxseed with bits of real fruit including blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, raspberries and elderberries. Often referred to as "Super Fruits," these berries are particularly well known for their antioxidant polyphenol levels, making them healthful and tasty. The flaxseeds in this formula are premium quality organic seeds that have been carefully selected for their nutritive content. Each serving delivers 3g of dietary fiber and 3g of protein as well as omega-3 fatty acid ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) and SDG lignans.

I am conscious about what I eat so I bought an each. I have tried flaxseeds, hemp seeds and chia seeds before, and I always add them in my food or smoothies to give them a little boost. I am no nutritionist or any health professional, but an average girl who prefers to eat healthy. Not necessarily vegetarian. I still have one of those cheat days, but as much as possible, I opt for something good for my body.

And oh! Also bought three bottles of organic and raw Kombucha ($2.50) in Hibiscus and Bilberry flavor. I forgot to take a picture though. I didn't like the taste, but it was an interesting drink. I still have a bottle left in the fridge. I'd be happy to share it with you. :)

Let me give you a small tip: I always go straight to the Beauty and Health aisle whichever mall or store I go to. It is my number one favorite aisle ever! My family and boyfriend knows this. *slowly nods*

Please let me know if you have tried any of the of the products mentioned.

Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel Astringent

I've heard about this toner especially Thayers Original Witch Hazel Astringent from a lot of beauty bloggers and most of them say they liked it. While at Whole Foods browsing for some skin care items, I happen to see both the Thayers Original Witch Hazel Astringent and the Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel Astringent. It took me a long time which to pick, but since I love roses, I went for the Rose Petal. I always want to feel extra special whenever I do my skin regimen at night so it has got to be ROSES.

Thayers Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Toner with Aloe Vera Formula [$9.95]
Over 120 years ago, Rose Thayer, niece of Henry Thayer M.D., developed an all-natural recipe for extra-soft, youthful-looking skin. As she aged, many would comment on how she always looked 10 years younger than she was. Now, for the first time, her secret formula of Rose Petal water blended with Witch Hazel extract, Certified Organic Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, is being made available.Witch Hazel helps to tighten pores, and to smooth and beautify skin without drying. Thayers® proprietary Witch Hazel extract (derived from the bark) is not distilled, thereby maintaining all the beneficial natural tannins. Assay of hamamelitannin shows that Witch Hazel bark extract is 31 times richer in hamamelitannin than the leaf extract and 87 times richer than the stem extract (Resource: Vennat, B., "Tannins from Hamamelis virginiana" Planta Medica 54(1988):454-457).
Alcohol-Free
Paraben-Free
Propylene Glycol-Free
Un-Distilled Witch Hazel (with all the beneficial natural tannins)
Moisturizes
Cleanses
No Animal Testing
Ingredients:Water (Purified), Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Juice, Glycerin (Vegetable), Fragrance (Natural Rose), Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract (Thayers proprietary un-distilled), Rosa Centifolia (Rose) Flower Water (Rose), Citric Acid, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)

Directions:
Apply with a cotton ball or soft pad to cleanse, soften, refresh and moisturize skin. Use anytime throughout the day as a softening refresher.

I've been using this for 2 months and what grabbed me besides the brand itself is the vintage-y look and the rose extract of it. It is Alcohol-free, Paraben-free and Pthalate-free; great product without stripping the natural oils of the skin. For a huge bottle with a price less than $10, I find that it is really worth of a purchase which is a great value for money. I love to use this toner for my night regimen after I washed my face, as it feels soothing, removes dirt (face, neck and decolletage) and gentle to the skin. My pores, however, still look the same as they were 2 months ago. It also did say you can use this product 'anytime throughout the day as a softening refresher', I haven't tried that and I do not think I will do that either. Currently, I still have 2/5 of the product left, and it didn't caused me any skin problems such as dryness, redness or breakouts especially for an oily skin myself. It leaves my skin moisturized besides applying a recent serum and moisturizer in my regimen.

I find this product intriguing as it says, "Rose's secret to looking 10 years younger...naturally". I don't think it will happen instantly or by using just a single or two bottle to get younger skin. But I suppose it will if used for... years, maybe? This is the first time I used this product, so... kind of hard to tell such difference, but it is always good to know every time I apply this product on my face.

I love ROSES. However, the scent of this toner reminds me of an old lady scent or medicine. It makes me feel bad to I tell you it smells nothing like roses. It is not really that bad, but for a product that says it has 'roses', I kind of expect a soft and feminine scent.

For a toner with a bottle this big, this is definitely worth the purchase for less than $10. It will take you forever to finish this big bottle of toner. Great addition to anyone's skin care regimen. Made my skin soft and nice, but what I dislike the most is the scent. I cannot smell the roses at all. I want to repurchase this toner, but the smell makes me want to think twice.

Walgreens and Whole Foods Mini Haul

I had this cold and irritated sore throat 2-3 days ago thanks from eating sweets (chocolates and mochi) without drinking water before going to bed! Ugh! When will I ever learn! But even still I had to get up. Lying in bed all day makes me feel worse.

Before heading home, we ought to buy some stuff at Walgreens. Looking around I bought some stuff... besides cough syrup.

Organix Acai Berry Avocado Shampoo [$8.99] and Conditioner [$8.99]

I wanted to try Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner and their Organix Macadamia Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. I've already got my eyes on them, till I found this with Acai on it... I changed my mind. I LOVE ACAI! The scent is sooo delicious filled with berries!

EOS Blueberry Acai [$4.29]

There were only two kinds of EOS lip balm: Blueberry Acai and Strawberry Sorbet. Though I love pink (color), I would get the pink EOS lip balm. But again, the acai on this got me straight to my heart. -- and of course its cute egg-shaped packaging! Hmm... Is it just me, or why do I feel I want to collect each of them now?

If I'd be asked if I am a tea, chocolate or coffee drinker, I would definitely say I prefer tea... then chocolate. LOL! It feels so comforting to grab a mug of hot tea or chocolate on a rainy day. You can never go wrong with that.

Twinnings Pure Rooibos Red Tea [$4.24]

Twinnings Chai Tea [$4.25]

Bigelow Chinese Oolong [2 for $7.79]

Bought few items at Whole Foods and had to stop at their tea section. These are the teas bought at Whole Foods weeks ago. (I forgot to blog about it???) There were a lot to choose from and it was so overwhelming! LOL! I had to stick to my guts what I really want so it took me time to choose when I recalled this beauty guru on Youtube who love tea so much, she recommended the Yogi Skin Detox. So that's what I got, while mom chose the Yogi Detox. Next day, I checked online about the product and read reviews. Each cost $4.99.

Yogi Skin DeTox
Supports a Healthy Glow

I didn't realize the Yogi Skin Detox, besides its delicious floral flavor, also helps in clearing acne as it cleanses internally the impurities resulting to clear glowing skin. Of course it says 'Skin Detox' but I wasn't expecting such result for a tea. I tried few tea bags of this and see if it will help clear out some breakouts around my jaw... until I realized my mom also love the Yogi Skin Detox, thus we share. LOL! I cannot give out my opinion on this tea if it helped me get that 'glow' or reduce these breakouts because I did not finish the entire box myself. I simply love its rose and hibiscus note to it which is very freshing and soothing. I love to drink this at night for a more complete skin regimen I suppose you can say.

Yogi DeTox
Supports Healthy Liver and Kidney Function

I tried this once but I didn't like it that much. It has that strong ginger taste to it. I love that it helps to detox your body, but the taste is not for me. I will still drink this tea. It is always good to detox.

Do you prefer tea, coffee or chocolate?

ALAFFIA African Black Soap (Tangerine Citrus)

I've watched videos on Youtube and read reviews online and majority had awesome results after they used the African Black Soap. Unfortunately, the day I was at Whole Foods, I couldn't find blocks of soap of the product like I know of, but what I did find was a liquid form of the African Black Soap. I was so ecstatic!

Alaffia African Black Soap For All Skin and Hair Types Tangerine Citrus - 32 fl oz [$11.99]

Ingredients
African mint (ocimum canum) extract (aqueous), African black soap (saponified shea butter* [butyrospermum parkii] and palm kernel oil [elaeis guineensis]), lauryl glucoside, tangerine essential oil, orange essential oil, lemongrass essential oil, litsea essential oil.*Certified Fair for Life - Social and Fair Trade by IMO.
Directions
Facial Cleanser: Apply with palm or facial cloth and massage gently over skin. Rinse clean and pat dry. Follow with Alaffia Face Cream of your choice. Body Wash: Squeeze onto a wet loofah, scrub or wash cloth and work into a lather on body. Rinse thoroughly. Shampoo: Apply to wet hair and massage into a rich lather. Rinse thoroughly and condition with Alaffia or Everyday Shea conditioner. Also good as: Hand Soap, Shaving Soap and General Household Cleanser.
Product Description
What is African Black Soap? In West Africa, authentic black soap is known by its Yoruba name, Osse Dudu. "Dudu" means the color black, which comes from the extensive "cooking" of soap to the point of charcoal. Many cultures in West Africa use charcoal to detoxify and purify the skin, and this is an integral aspect of the true African black soap. Furthermore, the authentic black soap is made from a centuries old recipe of handcrafted shea butter and indigenous West African palm kernel oil. Saponification is provided by adding ashes to the hot oils, then cooking the soap for six hours. The final step is to dry and cure the soap in the sun for three weeks. The extensive cooking and curing process makes authentic African black soap mild and gentle, and is the major reason for its great popularity rise in America. The second important reason is this soap's versatility. In Togo, the black soap is an "all in one" option for cleaning, and is ideal for faces and babies, shaving, shampooing, and as a general hand & body wash. Scented with a clarifying blend of citrus essential oils.

I love that this is an all-purpose product which saves you money. I usually go for products that do its individual use what my hair or skin needs. The face is delicate than the rest of the skin of our body so I am always skeptical when the product has a '2-in-1' written on the packaging... unless it's a trusted and organic brand, I wouldn't mind to give it a try.

I've been using it for a month and the product is amazing! It has that (tiny?) citrus-y scent to it, but you could still smell that earthiness of the African Black Soap like what you would expect. It has that beautiful caramel color; it is in a liquid soap and has a thick consistency. I used it as shampoo, body and facial wash. It didn't caused me dandruff, rashes, dryness or breakouts. It left my hair and skin moisturized and clean.

It did also say in the packaging that you can also use this for shaving or use it as a  general household cleaner. I like that. Very Eco-friendly.

This is a great product to try!

Very Random Haul

It's been a week since I got here in San Francisco, California, and I am enjoying my stay very much with my family. I still have jet lag but give me few more days for my body to adjust from the time difference. I'll be here for the next few months with them. While at it, I can't help myself but shop and look for good deals. Here are some stuff I bought. Reviews are coming up these next months.

Walgreens

Multi-vitamins in gummies! Perfect combination. You  know how much I love gummi bears, but I try to not eat these candies as much as I can because they are so addicting... for me that is. Anyways, I got this because my body is Vitamin C deficient since I got here. I bought two of these. [$15]

I bought this to protect myself from the harmful UV rays of the sun. I am so used in using an umbrella either it's sunny, cloudy or it rained. But here, people only use an umbrella if it rains -- or, should I say, if they feel they want to use an umbrella when it rains.  [$2.99]

Everyone must have probably heard about St.Ives; helps exfoliate our skin. I use this twice a week.
[$4.something-cents]

I also bought a feminine cleansing wash, Summer's Eve. Women use it to keep themselves extra clean.
I forgot to take a photo of it. [$6.29]

Whole Foods
I was in a tight budget so I had to pick the stuff I really need.

I am almost done with my Human Heart Nature Nourishing Toner, and I need a back-up as soon as possible. I've heard about this brand and now I finally got one! I love roses. [$9.99]

Finally! I've heard so many good things about the African Black Soap. So far, so good, I am loving it! I looked around to see if they have blocks of soap, but instead they only have it in a liquid form; a product works as a body wash, shampoo, facial cleanser, shaving, and hand soap. I need something like that. [$11.99]

While looking around, I spotted this: water in chocolate and peppermint flavor. This I got to try what it tastes like. I was also a little thirsty from walking block after block. I need to rejuvenate my body. It actually is refreshing and it doesn't taste funny; it reminds me of Andes Chocolate Mints -- chocolate-y and minty. [$1.79]

Ranch99
My parents and I ate in a Chinese restaurant, and went to the supermarket to buy food. Here's what I got besides bags of groceries.

I've read Korean Ginseng is good for your skin. I grabbed (the last) two boxes. Can't wait to try this tonight! [$9.something-cents]

While browsing, I found this Q10 facial mask. I feel like, my skin needs more hydration. [$15(?)]

Daiso Japan
No visit is complete without a visit to Daiso! There were so many cute stuff that I caught myself grabbing items that I don't think I needed just because they are priced for a dollar and fifty. I am so tempted. But I reminded myself only to purchase items I needed the most!

Curiosity made me bought this drink. I do not know what to expect. [$1.50]
UPDATE: November 22. 2013 : I thought it would taste like milk, or something with tapioca, but it wasn't! --- IT TASTED LIKE ORANGE JUICE! This. is. mind-blowing. WHOA!

One look at this and I instantly remembered one Philippine brand of chips called PODS from the brand, Oishi. It almost has the same texture and yumminess as this one. These are so delicious. I should have bought the rest of the flavors for me to munch on. [$1.50]

I can't read Japanese characters, but I do know I like to have smooth skin. According to the illustration at the back of the package, you use it in circular motion to slough off dead skin. [$1.50]

Yup, a star-shaped pumice stone. Isn't it cute? Also helps in removing dead skin while you take a shower. [$1.50]

I am so curious how it taste like. It's a hollow crunchy sweet potato cookie. It's okay. [$1.50]

Been looking for this exfoliating wash cloths for months now! I do hope this is the real thing; when I saw this, I was screaming at the top of my lungs (not really! lol!) because I've been looking for this since I got here. Koreans call it Italy Towel/daesugun/ddae soogun. Use this and literally see your dead skin removed right before your eyes every time you take a shower! I NEED TO BUY MORE OF THESE! I NEED TO VISIT DAISO AGAIN! Not only it will give that soft procelain skin, but skin care products will be more absorbed thus making skin e-x-t-r-a nice. I'M SUPER STOKED! Thank you, Daiso! [$1.50]

Target
Mom gave me this coupon yesterday; Five dollars off the price! I had to pay a visit to Target and see what I may find. *evil laugh*

I feel like in heaven. I was going to buy chocolate, but I changed my mind. Here are the stuff I bought at Target in their beauty section.

  • Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti-Aging Eye Roller [$22.39]
  • Jergens Shea Butter Deep-Conditioning Moisturizer (Lotion) [$7.39]
  • Jergens Crema Deep-Conditioning Shea Butter [$7.34]
  • No7 Beautiful Skin Energising Mask [$16.99]
  • No7 Restore and Renew Night Cream [$19.99]
  • No 7 Luxurious Foaming Shower Oil [$8.99]

Last but not least, my mom gave this to me days ago. Someone gave it to her. Now, she hands it to me. It is a sample size hand scrub.

There you have it! Items I have bought for the week. Excited to try these skin care products and let you guys know soon. Have you tried any of them? Please comment below what you think. I would love to hear it.
